Logbook Servicing

Whenever you purchase a new vehicle, the manufacturer provides you with a warranty which covers the cost of parts failures. This warranty is only valid, however, if you have your vehicle regularly serviced by a certified mechanic. The mechanic services the vehicle according the manufacturer’s specifications, and records and stamps these services in your vehicle’s logbook.

Many people think they have to have their vehicle serviced at a dealer workshop, or their warranty is voided. This isn’t true, as it’s actually illegal for manufacturers to discriminate based on choice of repairer, so you are free to choose your certified mechanic.

RWC and Vehicle Inspections

Whenever a vehicle is sold, re-registered, or has certain defect notices to clear, it requires a Roadworthy Certificate (RWC). The RWC is issued after a thorough inspection from a licensed tester, and ensures the vehicle meets the safety standards to legally be driven on Victorian roads.

If you’re thinking about buying a secondhand vehicle, we would recommend bringing it in for a pre-purchase inspection. This inspection ensures you know exactly what you’re buying, and helps you avoid any nasty surprises.

If your vehicle has been modified, constructed, or imported from overseas, you must acquire a Vehicle Assessment Signatory Scheme (VASS) approval certificate from a licensed tester, to ensure it meets Victorian safety standards.
